CEU: University Museum Traveling Trunk Workshop

    Monday, July 25, 2011
    12 Noon–5 p.m.

    .5 CEU credit
total cost: $35 (includes lunch and University of Mississippi CEU credit fee)
Instructors: William Andrews and Sarah Story

The University Museum Education Department is offering a one-day workshop for public school teachers (kindergarten to sixth grade) to learn more about the University Museum and its Traveling Trunk program. The director, William Andrews, will lead a guided tour of the museum and discuss how to incorporate museum artifacts into the classroom.

The Museum’s Traveling Trunk program provides an educational extension of the permanent collection. These trunks create a means of bringing the Museum into the classroom. Each trunk contains materials (lessons, crafts, and artist information) for an educational presentation that can be conducted either by one of the museum educators or checked out on loan and conducted by a teacher. Teachers will learn how to utilize each of the following trunks: Greek and Roman, Theora Hamblett, Folk Art, and Walter Anderson.

At the end of the workshop, you will complete a form and pay $20 (cash or check) to receive .5 CEU credit from the University of Mississippi. Information will be on the form of who to make the check payable to.
