The University Museum is excited to announce its 2020 schedule of fun-filled summer camps for children.
Children will explore the world through the Museum, create their own books and jewelry, and problem-solve to create new inventions in these exciting and educational camps inspired by the Museum’s collections and special exhibits. Returning camper? —we will have new projects, so join us again!

Cost of each weeklong camp:

$65 per participant for Museum Members at the Family level and above

$85 per participant for non-members

All supplies and snacks are included in the cost.

Space is very limited, and camps will fill up quickly, so save the date to sign up: Registration opens Saturday March 7, 2020, 9:00 a.m.

For Children Entering Grades 1–5:

‘Art’rageous Adventures
June 8–12, 2020, 9 a.m.–noon

Join us on this “around the world” art adventure! In this week’s camp we will explore the UM Museum’s diverse collections finding inspiration from cultures and natural wonders while learning that art is the language that everyone speaks.

Cover to Cover
June 15–19, 2020, 9 a.m.–noon

Look, it’s a book! Learn how to fold and cut paper, and create handmade books to fill with ideas, writings and illustrations. Make 3-dimensional art by building together to create awesome sculptures. Inspired by our special exhibit Hardcovers and Paperbacks by Brian Dettmer, children will discover a new way of looking at books and sculptures.

Artful Adornment
July 6-10, 2020, 9 a.m.–noon

Wearable art! Make jewelry, hats, masks, and more while finding inspiration in the UM Museum’s collections.

Inventor’s Workshop
July 13–17, 2020, 9 a.m.–noon

Discover your inner innovator! Explore creative and artistic design challenges to solve problems and think like inventors.

Mini Masters Camp: Storytelling Summer
June 22–26, 2020, 9 a.m.–11 a.m.

For Ages 3–5 and a Grown-up*
Get the young ones ready to head back to preschool or kindergarten by making art with their new friends inspired by toddler stories. Explore fun stories through art projects and active adventures in the Museum.
*Due to UM policies, all mini masters must be accompanied by an adult (can be one guardian for multiple children)

 

For Children Entering Grades 6–8

Middle School Camp: Artist’s Studio
July 20-24, 2020, 9am-noon

Experiment with drawing, illustrating, painting, sculpture, and mixed media in this fun-filled week of art inspired by Museum collections and exhibitions. This week’s camp is designed to help emerging young artists build strong technical skills utilizing a variety of techniques and mediums. All levels of experience are welcome.
