The University Museum is excited to announce its 2018 schedule of fun-filled summer camps for children.
Children will encounter mythological creatures, explore the Museum, and experiment with new art materials
in these exciting and educational camps inspired by the Museum’s collections and special exhibits.
Returning camper? —we will have new projects, so join us again!

Cost of each weeklong camp:

$65 per participant for Museum Members at the Family level and above

$85 per participant for non-members

All supplies and snacks are included in the cost.

Space is very limited, and camps will fill up quickly, so sign up today! This year, registration is ONLINE ONLY.

For Children Entering Grades 1–5:

Art from the South
June 4—7, 2018, 9 a.m.–noon
We will learn about the historical and modern artists who make our region unique, creating art inspired by artists from the American South.

People, Places, and Things in Art 
June 11–15, 2018, 9 a.m.–noon
We will take a look at art from the Museum’s collection and beyond experimenting with painting, sculpture, and more, and learning about nouns—people, places, things, and ideas—in art!

Art Discovery: Science and Animals [FULL – Contact Emily McCauley at to be added to the waitlist] 
June 18–22, 2018, 9 a.m.–noon
Art and Science will be combined as we start each day with a science experiment and create art inspired by chemistry, biology, space, and more!

Myths, Monsters, and Faraway Lands [FULL – Contact Emily McCauley at to be added to the waitlist] 
July 9-13, 2018, 9 a.m.–noon
Inspired by the Museum’s collection of Greek and Roman artifacts, we will explore ancient civilizations, mythology, and tales from cultures around the world.

Photography and Storytelling in Art [FULL – Contact Emily McCauley at to be added to the waitlist] 
July 16–20, 2018, 9 a.m.–noon
Art and photography are used to tell stories. In this new camp, we will explore the art of storytelling in a variety of forms including book illustration, photography, and painting.

Mini Masters Explorer Camp  [FULL – Contact Emily McCauley at to be added to the waitlist] 
June 25–29, 2018, 9 a.m.-11:00 a.m.
For Ages 3–5 and a Grown-up*
Get the young ones ready to head back to preschool or kindergarten by making art with their new friends inspired by toddler stories and art from the Museum’s collections!
*Due to UM policies, all mini masters must be accompanied by an adult (can be one guardian for multiple children). Coffee and snacks will be provided for grown ups!


For Children Entering Grades 6–8

All About Art: Middle School Edition
July 23–27, 2018, 9 a.m.–noon
Experiment with drawing, illustrating, painting, sculpture, and mixed media in this fun-filled week of art inspired by Museum collections and exhibitions. All levels of experience are welcome and all activities will be new.
