Brent Funderburk, painter, teacher, speaker, and occasional curator, will discuss his own experiences with the Gulf Coast and his thirty-year engagement with the mystical world, art, and life of Walter Inglis Anderson

BRENT FUNDERBURK

A renowned professor, painter, writer, and speaker, Brent Funderburk received his BFA and MFA in Painting/Drawing from East Carolina University School of Art. Since his move to Mississippi in 1982, he has developed an impressive repertoire of articles, curatorial experiences, classes, and lecture series exploring the art and nature of the Gulf Coast, specifically the art of Walter Anderson. He presently teaches at Mississippi State University.

Funderburk will present the lecture “Walter Anderson’s Ecstasy: The Nearly Lost Masterworks, Finally Found” from 12-1pm on October 26, 2011 at the University Museum. This event is open to the public and light refreshments will be provided.
