“At Rest” is a welded steel sculpture depicting a human form sitting on top of a massive cube. The piece is by sculptor Jason Kimes, and will remain installed through June 2012 as part of the museum’s outdoor sculpture program curated by Durant Thompson, Associate Professor of Art and director of the graduate program in sculpture at the University of Mississippi Department of Art.
Jason Kimes received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Sculpture from the University of Southern Mississippi in 2002, and his Master of Fine Arts degree in Sculpture from Southern Illinois University – Carbondale in 2005. Kimes works in welded steel, cast iron, bronze, aluminum and wood. Kimes’ work is primarily concerned with the human figure and its surrounding environment. He lives and maintains a studio in Laurel, MS.
